I make sure the children have the opportunity to take part in many different fun, interesting and stimulating activities, if they want to.
I also make sure there is enough time to rest and relax, especially after a busy day in school.
There are pictures of our toys, artwork and activities all over this site.

a collection of children's books

Some of the things we do are:

Read books or be read to. I have a good selection of books in the house, from different cultures -even some in Dutch!- and suitable for different ages. We also go to the library to choose books there.

Play with toys. I have a choice of many different toys and games in the house, and the Toy Library is only a three minute walk away.

Creative activities. We make beautiful drawings, paintings, sculptures, objects from scrap material and many more things. I have CD's with children's songs that we can play and sing along to, or we can sing our own songs.

Going out. We go to one of the many nearby playparks, the local library, the swimming pool, the beach, and many more places.

Play outside. Either in the garden (waterpistols are always great fun!) or, for older children, on the large green in front of the house.

Homework. School age children can do their homework here and if necessary and at all possible I will help them with it.

Exploring. Sometimes, we explore things in nature. We had a lot of fun with the snails in the garden, as you can see on our snail page.
I may also take older children out for a rockpool scramble or a walk in the forest.

Screentime. On limited occasions we watch a video, or do things on the computer.

What we do depends on what the children want, on how long they are here for and, of course, on the famously unreliable English weather!
